- ZEN MEDITATION
The aim of life, if there is any, is to become a happy person.
The aim of Buddhism is to become enlightened, through which one can transcend pain and become a happy being.
When Buddha attained his enlightenment, he realized the highest part of that enlightenment could not be conveyed verbally because it is beyond any verbal means of description. It can be transmitted from a mind to a mind in silence.
This is called 'teaching outside of verbal teaching'. It is inherited from Buddha to one of his disciples and through history. It is named Zen Buddhism.
Zen Buddhism flourished in China by harmonious union with Taoism. Then, it spread to Korea and Japan, and almost exclusively practiced in these Far Eastern countries.
Meditation is practiced in all Buddhist sects. Zen meditation has it's own rituals to practice. It may be comparable to psychoanalysis in the West. But, in the former, the practice is in silence, and in the latter, the practice is by verbal means. Either way, you turn your eyes inward and onto yourself.
Through Zen meditation, one strives to achieve the state of supreme mind called enlightenment.
No need to try to describe this state because it is beyond words. One only could experience it by doing it.
Those interested and courageous to tackle this challenge, call (732) 246-7066 and ask for Julia Im. But, remember, at this stage, silence is not yet acceptable
